Round Table Conference Minorities Participation in the National Issues

Ambedkar society for south Asia held Round Table Conference on 8th April 2019 at Faletti's hotel, Lahore on the topic of "Minorities Participation in the National Issues" 25 to 30 members of lower caste Hindus including member provincial assembly of sindh Mangla Sharma (MQM) were among the participants. Another member of provincial assembly of sindh, Tanzila Qambrani (PPP) a Muslim lady who also belongs to very deprived sheedi tribes and a Sikh lady Manmeet Kaur (first sikh reporter) from Hum news were also participating in the conference. It is first time in the history of Pakistan that such numbers of lower caste Hindus from diverse fields such as doctor, lecturer, teacher, pharmacist, advocate, social worker, human rights activist, media person, jobs man and member provincial assembly gathered and shared their thoughts on the topic as well as other issues of their community. Participants belonged to three provinces Punjab, Sindh and KPK. They came from number of cities and districts that includes Kashmor, Mirpur khas, Thar parkar, Badin, Hyderabad, Kandhkot, Sukkur, Ghotki, Karachi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Multan, Rahimyar Khan, Sialkot, Multan, Pindi and Lahore. Chief spokesperson of CM Punjab, Dr. Shahbaz Gill was the chief guest along with Minister of human rights and minorities affairs Punjab, Ejaz Alam Augustine participating as guest of honour. Additional secretary shrines Tariq Wazir and secretary education Faraz Abas were also present. Number of big media houses person were there and covered the program. Program started with Talawat and Hindu rituals then all stood up for national anthem with small Pakistan's flag in their hands after this participants introduced them self one by one. Director ASSA gave welcome address he thanked participants for coming from different parts of the country. He also highlighted the aims and objective of ASSA and talked about Dr. Ambedkar legacy and his contribution towards empowering Dalit community of India. Then forum was opened for discussion and participants enthusiastically took part in the discussions. Majority of participants have consensus on the need of national forum for lower caste Hindu community in the country. They praised ASSA for arranging such nationwide program. Few of them wanted that this kind of program should be held on regular basis and also arranged in other part of the country especially in the Province of sindh.
