The Ambedkar Society for South Asia (ASSA) in collaboration with the Center for South Asian Studies, University of the Punjab, successfully organized an international conference on October 13, 2022. Distinguished guest speakers from India included:

  1. Mr. Pradeep Aglave: Professor and Head of the Dr. Ambedkar Chair at Nagpur University,

  2. Dr. Seema Mathur: Professor of Political Science at the University of Delhi,

  3. Mr. Bezwada Wilson: A prominent Indian activist and the National Convenor of the Safai Karmachari Andolan (SKA), Mr. Wilson highlighted the ongoing struggle against manual scavenging and the fight for the rights of sanitation workers.

  4. Dr. Sujatha Surepally: Philanthropist, Professor, and Head of the Department of Sociology at Satavahana University,

From Pakistan, two notable speakers made significant contributions:

  1. Dr. Muhammad Akram Chaudhary: A former Vice Chancellor of Sargodha University, Sargodha Pakistan

  2. Dr. Ayra Indrias Patras: Lecturer at FC College, Lahore

The conference facilitated an exchange of ideas, experiences and best practices among the participants, promoting greater understanding and cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
