Women like Mayawati, who has been the CM of Uttar Pradesh, still inspire women of Dalit society, but it will be surprising to know that even at the time of independence of the country, Dalit women had done two or two hands with the British without fear.
One such heroine was Jhalkari Bai, who was a very courageous woman and was an ally of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. She belonged to the sub-caste Kori, who came in the Chamar caste, and she was proficient in fighting skills. She looks like Lakshmi Bai. She looked so much like Lakshmi Bai that even the British were deceived. Jhalkari Bai was also in the queen's army. It was only with the help of Jhalkari Bai that Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi was able to reach Pratapgarh or Nepal.
Next comes the name of Uda Devi. It is said that Begum Hazrat Mahal had a platoon whose name was Pasi Paltan which also had a commander Uda Devi. Actually, it happened that Makkah Pasi, husband of Veerangana Uda Devi of Ujarian village of Lucknow was killed in Chinhat Barabanki at the hands of the British and Uda Devi, weeping over the dead body of her husband, vowed to take revenge and then joined the army of Begum Hazrat Mahal. took. Uda had killed 35 Britishers but then she was also killed.
It happened that when the British were resting under the Peepal tree in the summer, many Britishers were killed by Uda and when General Dawson suspected this, he started inspecting and after seeing what he saw, his senses were blown away. He saw that the British soldiers had been roasted with bullets. On inspection, he found that the bullet had been fired from above.
Called their colleague Valeck and the two realized someone was on the tree and fired. He died of bullet injuries but already he killed many Britishers. The next name is of Mahaviri Devi, who belonged to Muzaffarnagar in western Uttar Pradesh, who did not even care for her life for the country's independence. His courage is still known today.
