Fifteen personalities from Manipur have been shortlisted for the prestigious fellowship and National award dedicated to Bharat Ratna Doctor Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
These awards are conferred on selected persons from various fields including, social workers, cultural activists, artistes etc in honour and recognition of their outstanding contributions to the society, said a statement of Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur.
The personalities from the State who have been shortlisted for the Dr Ambedkar Fellowship Award and National Award as per the statement are as follows.
Teachers: Moirangthem Athoibi Chanu from Takyel Kolom Leikai; Bachaspatimayum Gunindro Sharma from Thangmeiband Thingel; Dr Haobam Anandi Devi from Sagolband Tera Yengkhom Leirak; Cultural Activists: Moirangthem Jiran Singh from Shagoltongba Makha Leikai; Kangujam Sangita from Khongman Okram Chuthek: Lukram Punam Devi from New Chekon Chingang Leikai; Lukram Shusma Devi; Professor Konjengbam Onita Devi from Keishampat Mutum Leikai; Moibung Khongba: Thongam Karnajun Singh from Singjamei Makha Khongnang Pheidekpi; Thang-Ta: Ringku Waikhom from Keirao Bitra Awang Leikai; Wari Liba artiste: Mayengbam Brajamani Singh from Tera Urak Wabagai; Brahmacharimayum Shurmangol sharma of Tentha Hebung; Khongjom Parva artiste: Moirangthem Sanatombi from Tentha Khunou; Khut-heiba (craftsmen): Moirangthem Tomba Singh and Government Nominee Member for election purpose in Thoubal district: Okram Bisambor from Thoubal Athokpam.
The awards will be handed out on December 24 and 25 at Panchsil Ashram in Delhi in line with the 36th foundation day celebration of Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Academy, said Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur.
