Dozens of members of Balochistan's Christian community on Saturday staged a protest in the provincial capital against persecution of minorities in India in the awake of their protest against a discriminatory citizenship law.
The protest - led by Bishop Amanat, former member National Assembly Khalil George Bhutto and former member provincial assembly Anita Irfan - was staged outside Quetta Press Club.
Addressing the participants, the protest leader said Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government had started resorting to massacre of Indian Muslims and Christians and exposed their extremist face.
They lamented that the world had become a silent spectator to the recent massacre of muslims in New Delhi, which, they said, had falsified the claim that India is a secular state. "Human rights organisations, including the UN, would be responsible for the ongoing massacre in India."
The killing continues in New Delhi but Prime Minister Narendra Modi is silent and is unable to control his terrorists, they said. The protestors said minorities are protected around the world but India is the only country where bloodshed is under way to eliminate them.
They appealed to the world organisations to do their part to stop this persecution. They urged India to learn this lesson from Pakistan where minorities enjoy equal rights.
They said prediction made by Quaid-e-Azam 72 years ago remains true that the minorities will not get any protection in India. They burnt Narendra Modi effigy and shouted slogans against India.
