Three Dalit youths of Kanchanpur's Punarbas Municipality are all geared up to set up a gas bottling plant with the money they had saved by working in India as migrant workers.
According to Amar Bahadur Tiruwa, one of the three initial investors, they have started building required infrastructure for the proposed Shuklaphanta Gas Industries by leasing two bigha land of local Prakash Darjee in Motibasti of Punarbas Municipality-2.
"Earlier, we had to leave the country to earn our livelihood. But now we've decided to set up an industry back at home with the money we've earned all these years," said Tiruwa, adding that they had planned to add more people as stakeholders in the future.
"As our aim is to provide employment opportunities to those who would otherwise have to leave home for employment, we plan to include other Nepali brothers like us, who are compelled to work in India for their keeps, as shareholders," he said.
Besides Tiruwa, Dipak Darjee and Dilip Bada are initial investors of the proposed project that is expected to come into operation within 18 months.
The plant will have the capacity to fill 6,000 cylinders per day. The expected cost of the plant is 180 million rupees.
