Andhra Pradesh YSRCP MLA Vundavalli Sridevi was stopped from entering a Ganesh pandal in her constituency on Tuesday after a clash broke out at on her arrival at the venue.
Sridevi, a doctor by profession, was in Anantavaram to attend an event marking the death anniversary of former CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy, after which she was invited to visit the Ganesh pandal, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Before her arrival at the pandal, the police had stopped a group of people from entering the idol premises. When she reached the spot, they started protesting resulting in pushing and shoving.
According to YSRCP, the protestors belonged to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and resisted Sridevi's entry as she belonged to Dalit community.
Sridevi is an MLA from Tadikonda constituency in Andhra Pradesh reserved for Scheduled Castes. She belongs to the Madiga community.
