Palanpur:
A 30-year-old man was booked for allegedly raping a 20-year-old Dalit woman in
Malotra village of Dhanera taluka of Banaskantha and making her video viral.
About a week before, the accused Jayanti Patel had attacked the woman when she
was passing through a farm with grass bundle on her head. He also allegedly
raped her, said police.
According to police, Patel also recorded nude video of the woman and made the
clip viral amongst his friends. However, when the woman refused to comply to
Patel's demand for sexual favours, the accused made the clip viral on June 7,
said police.
On Tuesday, the woman approached Dhanera police and registered the complaint
under 376 292, 354, 509 and other relevant sections if Indian Penal Code
besides SC/ST (Prevention of) Atrocity Act.
Deputy superintendent of police Deesa, Rushikesh Upadhyay, who is investigating
the case said, "The survivor has been sent for medical examination. The video
clip that was made viral has also been sent to forensic lab." He said that
Patel was on the run and search for him was on.
