Fake Human Pride: Stone Pelting At A Dalit's Wedding Leaves Innocent Horse Dead In Gujarat

Gujarat: Horse used in a wedding procession succumbed to injuries it had sustained during a stone pelting incident at Khambhisar village of Modasa tehsil in Aravalli district.

On May 12, upper caste men pelted stones when a Dalit groom, Jayesh Rathod, was rising horse in the village. This was the first time when a Dalit rode horse in marriage.

Police have registered a case under various provisions of IPC and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocity) Act. The stone pelters belong to Patiday community and includes 16 women and 27 men.

After horse's death, police have added Section 429 of the IPC (mischief by killing cattle) to the FIR against 43 upper case people, reported Indian Express.

The accused had attacked the marriage procession with stones and abused Dalits and created obstacles to stop the procession.

The horse died a couple of days ago after staying under medical supervision since May 12.
