Jaipur: A 14-year-old Dalit girl from Madhya Pradesh was raped by three different persons across multiple districts of Rajasthan after she was sold to human traffickers by her relatives.
The shocking incident came to light on Thursday whenJaipur city police arrested nine accused from Bharatpur, Karauli, Dholpur and Jaipur under various sections of the IPC, SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Mahesh Nagar SHO Jagdish Prasad told TOI that of the nine accused, three have been arrested for raping the minor.
"The girl hails from a poor Dalit family in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh. Her father is blind while her mother is mentally challenged. About three months ago, their relatives convinced the desperate family to sell their daughter for Rs 1.5 lakh to human traffickers. She was brought to Bharatpur where she was raped by one person," he said, adding that later she was sold to two other persons who raped her before sending her to one Ram Dayal in Jaipur.
ACP (Sodala) Nem Singh said that the frightened girl had told all her predators that she wanted to go back to her parents. "On Monday, she managed to sneak out of Ram Dayal's house and contacted Jyoti Nagar police station. She narrated her ordeal to the cops there who informed Mahesh Nagar police station about the incident. Five police teams were formed to track down the accused," he said.
Since the incident has happened close at the heels of Thanagazi Dalit woman's gangrape case, the city police informed senior cops about the incident who sent special teams across multiple cities. The girl's statements were recorded during which she gave vital tip-offs to cops.
"The girl had the phone numbers of some of the accused and could identify them. We have arrested Jitendra, Bhupendra and Radhey Shyam for the rape of minor while others have been arrested for trafficking and illegal confinement of the minor girl," said SHO Jagdish Prasad, adding that the police teams would also raid places in Madhya Pradesh.
During initial interrogation, the accused revealed that in many villages in Bharatpur, Dholpur and Karauli, minor girls from poor pockets of the country are trafficked to get them married to overaged men.
