To instill confidence in the Dalits, he also founded an organization which even today works to stop atrocities on Dalits and protect the interests of Dalits. We are talking about 'Bhim Sena'. This army was more popular in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Talking about B Shyam Sundar, he was against the adoption of any other religion by Dalits. He believed that Dalits are the original inhabitants of India, so they do not need to adopt any new religion. Let us tell you in detail about B Shyam Sundar.
Early life of Shyam Sundar
B Shyam Sundar laid great emphasis on education. He believed that backwardness of the society can be removed only through education. Talking about his personal life, Shyam Sundar was born on 18 December 1908 in Hyderabad. His father was a railway employee. Shyam Sundar took a law degree from Osmania University and after that started working for the labor union.
Being from a Dalit family, Shyam Sundar was well aware of the social difficulties of the Dalit class. He was an MLA in Karnataka from 1957 to 1961 and continued to work for the upliftment of Dalits there too. Shyam Sundar was an expert and writer of Hindi, Urdu, English, Marathi and Kannada languages. His book 'An Assessment of Five Thousand Years of History and Culture of India' became very famous.
Political career
Shyam Sundar practiced law for some time and joined the Swadeshi movement led by Mrs. Sarojini Naidu and served as its general secretary in Andhra Pradesh. He was elected President of the Literary Society of Hyderabad. He accepted membership of the Exhibition Society of Hyderabad.
He was elected unopposed to the Hyderabad Legislative Assembly from the Graduates constituency and later served as its Vice-President. He also led a movement to form a union of minorities and Bahujans to fight for their legitimate constitutional rights.
Minority Movement
According to the information received, with the blessings of Sardar Master Tara Singh, Shyam Sundar formed the "All India Federal Minorities Union" in Hyderabad on 13 October 1956. Shyam Sundar also wrote a pamphlet that a union is necessary for Indian minorities; His demands for the minorities included enforcement of their constitutional rights, preservation of culture, electoral reforms and even nationalization of the administrative problems of the minorities of India.
His main objective was to run a nationwide educational campaign in favor of secularism, to ensure that minorities are not deprived of their constitutional rights and to get fair treatment in civil and military appointments and admission to educational and technical institutions.
Formation of Bhima Sena
Shyam Sunder formed a voluntary core force 'Bhima Sena' in Gulbarga district of Karnataka on 29 April 1968 on the 70th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He named it Bhima Sena after Ambedkar. It is a self-defense movement based on truth and non-violence. It countered the atrocities of upper caste Hindus on untouchables.
A militant army consisting of about 2,00,000 Dalits. This movement was a rebellion against the Hindu caste system. Shyam Sunder wanted to create Dalitstan, a country for untouchables and wanted an alliance between Dalits, Muslims and untouchables. This is what made Bhima Sena popular. Bhima Sena had three main objectives: twenty-five percent of villages should be assigned to them, separate electorate, separate elections and separate universities for them. However, these demands could not be met. And thus Shyam Sundar, a well-wisher of Dalits who worked for Dalits, died on May 19, 1975.
