Members of the 'Brahmin Samaj' in Madhya Pradesh have launched a fundraising campaign to help rebuild the house of the family of the accused in the Sidhi urination horror.
The community is infuriated with the administration for razing the house in which accused Pravesh Shukla lived with his wife, three-year-old daughter and parents. His wife Kanchan said the house in Kubri village was built by her grandmother and wasn't in Pravesh's or his father's name.
The account number of Pravesh's father Ramakant Shukla has been circulating in community WhatsApp groups and people have begun donating money from all over the state.
State president of Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Samaj, Pushpendra Mishra, said, "The organisation will construct the house of the family that was razed. What the accused did is deplorable, but why should the family suffer? We initially provided assistance of Rs 51,000, and the account number of the head of the family has been circulated all across our organisation. People are contributing towards the construction of the house."
"The Samaj will file a petition in Madhya Pradesh high court, seeking to know under which law the government razed the legal house of the family," Mishra told TOI.
"He is my son, but I am a law-abiding citizen and will welcome any legal action as per the Constitution against my son. But why was our house razed? The law in MP says encroachments will not be razed during the rainy season. Our family is suffering without any fault. For the first couple of days, neighbours arranged for food, now we are managing somehow," Ramakant Shukla told TOI.
