Chikkamagaluru: Members of various Dalits organizations staged a protest here on Friday, objecting to the disfiguring of a picture of Dr B R Ambedkar at Hanumanthappa Circle.
The banner had been put up for the occasion of Sanitation Work Day (Paurakarmikara Dina). It was found that the picture of Dr Ambedkar on the banner carried footwear marks, said sources.
The members of the Dalit organizations protested near the flex and demanded that the matter be investigated urgently. The guilty should also be arrested, the protesters urged the authorities.
As a precautionary measure, tight police security was provided in the protest area in Chikkamagaluru town, the sources said.
