The Ambedkar Society for South Asia (ASSA) organized an insightful international webinar on "Caste, Class & Dalit Identity" today on 15th February 2024. The guest speakers included:

1- Prof. Dr. Bhup Singh (Assistant Professor, Gurugram University Haryana India)

2- Mayura Saavi (Development Professional and Independent Journalist, co-founder at PDCR foundation)

3- Dr. Rakhee Chauhan (Associate Professor, Deptt. of Political Science, Delhi Univerity, India)

4- Prof. Dr. Rajesh kumar (Associate Professor of English, School of Humanities, Indra Gandhi Open University, India)

5- Dr. Mali Devi Sawariya (Assistant Professor, Social Work Deptt. Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Delhi University India)

The webinar focused on the relevance of caste and class in the Dalit perspective, the historical context of Dalits, and their ongoing struggle for identity. The speakers delved into the complexities of caste and class dynamics, highlighting how these factors continue to shape Dalit experiences. They also discussed the transformation of the untouchables into the Dalit community, emphasizing the importance of self-identification and the role it plays in asserting their rights.
